Yyoga has something for everyone, whether you like it heated or non-heated, intense or chill.
One of the great things the west coast is known for, is its passion for yoga. And I share this passion. Yoga has been a huge part of my life the past few years. It keeps me limber, strong and mentally focused. As well, hot yoga helps me sweat out all my toxins, which is especially great the day after enjoying a nice bottle of wine.
Obviously I needed to find a yoga studio when I moved to Van a couple weeks ago. And I found a few of them within walking distance from where I’m currently staying. One of these studios is YYoga. I love the snazzy YYoga Downtown Flow location on Burrard Street and Smithe, right by the Scotiabank Theatre and the IGA. The facilities are super nice and there’s even a spa where you can book treatments.
In terms of classes, there’s YHot, where the room is heated to 40 degrees Celsius. There’s also warm classes that don’t quite get as hot, such the Power and Yin classes. And if heated yoga isn’t your thing, there are plenty of non-heated classes, such as Hatha and Flow. There’s even a few classes you don’t always see at yoga studios, such as Pilates and a Prenatal class for expectant mothers.
Some classes have music to groove to, some don’t. Some classes are super intense like the TRX class offered at the South Granville location and some are super chill, like the Meditation class. So really, there’s something for everyone to enjoy at YYoga.
And don’t sweat it (no pun intended) if the Downtown Flow location isn’t quite in your hood. YYoga has studios in Yaletown, Kitsilano, West 6th Ave, South Granville, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, Whistler and even two locations in Toronto.
YYoga also offers outdoor classes at various locations in B.C. throughout the summer, a yoga teacher training program and workshops. Additionally, there’s always free blog articles on its website with helpful tips like how to use yoga to improve your running or hiking.
As a new student, you can sign up for an introductory offer for one month of unlimited classes for just $40. And until June 12, everyone can buy a 10-class pack for $120 plus tax. So go ahead - take a few deep breaths and head over to your nearest YYoga location to hit your best downward dog position. Visit the YYoga website for more information. Namaste.
